0:29 – 14:01 – Eric introduces his guest Sam Liebowitz, a consultant/coach, director/executive producer of this network, and the host of The Conscious Consultant. Tonight they will be discussing how to stay centered during the pandemic. Sam talks about his desire to be the master of his own destiny and how that led him to creating Talk Alternative Broadcasting. When consulting others to do the same, Sam encourages them to look at patterns within their personal lives as well because many have found themselves stuck due to hardship and trauma. Eric notes that people falsely believe that their spiritual/emotional life is separate from how they conduct themselves in business. Sam believes that if you’re not in a good place it will show up in other aspects of your life.
17:01 – 29:03 – Eric asks Sam if he can share concrete tips for reclaiming your power. Sam reminds listeners that you do not have full control of your environment but you have control of your response. After your most excruciating experiences you can look back at those moments and judge whether or not it was good or bad. Rather than trying to make the judgement immediately without any hindsight, make the decision to postpone that judgement. Many have lost their jobs in this pandemic, but it presented an opportunity for them to explore other options. This is a good time to pull back, take a breath, and reevaluate your priorities.
31:53 – 42:46 – Sam recommends that you give yourself some space, schedule time to be with yourself. By doing this you give yourself a chance to see what’s going on with you and really understand your energy. When you ruminate over the past and worry about the future you miss out on the present. Sam says he used to laugh at the idea of five year plans, right now it is difficult to plan for one year. What you can manage is right now.
45:04 – 56:52- Eric asks Sam to share a story about how he has helped someone show up differently in their lives, professionally and personally. Sam talks about a client of his who started a new position and was experiencing a lot of tension with his manager. Sam encouraged him to get introspective and determine where he experiences a similar kind of emotional distress. The man realized that his feelings towards this manager mirrored a traumatic relationship. After this revelation the man began practicing meditation, martial arts, and other exercises to center himself. Once he changed the way that he showed up in the office and worked with his colleagues this man thrived in the office. As you show up differently in a given situation, people respond to you differently.
About Employment Law Today
Helping Business With Employment Law Issues.
For many business owners, it can be overwhelming to keep up and comply with the federal and state labor and employment laws that govern how they run their business. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there are new laws and regulations regarding hiring, firing, and workplace practices and protocols — all of which can increase business owners’ anxieties about regaining traction or thriving again. On my weekly show, we will be discussing the most common employment law related questions and challenges that business owners have been facing in these uncertain times.
The show will have three main goals: (1) to inform businesses about employment law updates, (2) to inspire businesses by giving them the tools to move forward, and (3) to demonstrate how some business owners have overcome their employment law problems, walked through the challenges imposed by this pandemic, and have taken steps to regain traction during the reopening phases of this pandemic.
Our guests will include professionals who advise businesses from an H.R., legal, and financial perspective, along with thriving business owners who will share their experiences and insights into running a successful company while complying with labor and employment law mandates during COVID-19.
